Turnips

Meirapen, also known as turnips, are root vegetables that originally come from Europe. They have been an important food crop since ancient times and are often grown in temperate climates.

Turnips are generally available from late autumn to early spring, with a peak in the months of November to March. In the Netherlands and Belgium, they are often grown locally, ensuring a fresh supply during the season. Outside of the season, they are sometimes imported from other European countries, but most consumers prefer the freshly harvested ones from their own country.
